Understanding the Everyday Struggle of Constant Worry
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is a mental health condition where a person experiences excessive, ongoing worry or fear about everyday situations. Unlike normal stress, the worry in GAD is persistent, hard to control, and often out of proportion to the actual situation. Common characteristics may include:
- Excessive worrying about work, health, relationships, finances, or everyday events.
- Physical symptoms such as muscle tension, headaches, stomach problems, sweating, or rapid heartbeat.
- Restlessness or feeling “on edge”.
- Sleep problems (difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep).
- Trouble concentrating or having your mind “go blank”.
- Fatigue from constant mental and physical strain.
- Overthinking mistakes or deadlines.
