I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) dedicated to creating a collaborative approach working with adults, adolescents, children, couples, and families. I received my undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Texas Tech University and went on to get my Masters of Social Work degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
I am passionate about working with individuals struggling with OCD, anxiety disorders, body image, depression, relationship difficulties and life transitions. I have many years of experience in the behavioral health field at multiple levels of care including inpatient behavioral health hospitals, ER crisis hospital units, residential treatment facilities, outpatient day programs, and private practice counseling.
In my practice, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness. I teach psychoeducation to help individuals, families, and couples understand why they may be reacting the way they are and how certain behaviors are keeping them stuck. We explore core values of the individual or couples to understand where the tension is coming from and use these values to guide how the client(s) want to live their life. I work on self-awareness with clients to understand the core issue or fear they have and make a connection of why they are using the dysfunctional behavior to cope. We spend a lot of time talking about acceptance, learning what it really is, and practice to get better at it. I incorporate mindfulness-based exercises to help individuals get to a calmer state of mind. My approach is to support clients in exploring meaning, values, and inner strengths as part of the healing process, while also implementing meaningful behavior changes. I use a strengths-based lens to help clients cultivate a healthier relationship with themselves and with others.
Spirituality can be thoughtfully integrated into our work when it is meaningful to the client and always in a way that honors their personal beliefs and values. My goal is to support clients in engaging more fully in a life they enjoy and find fulfilling.
